Reflections on blogging, weird people and music. (Personal opinions!)
Alright, so here’s my very first post! Truth be told, I spent a really long time racking my brains as to what to reflect about. It’s not as if I have a lack of topic to blog about, but rather, a lack of topic that is suitable to blog about for this storytelling blog. Yes, I post nonsense all the time on my personal blog, but when it comes to this storytelling blog, I’m extremely wary and fearful that my entries would merely come across as one of those superficial rants and ramblings that hold no deep meaning or purpose at all.
Okay, enough of the long introduction. I’m here to let you people have a slice of… my life! Yes, my life. Pretty narcissistic huh? I know. I just can’t think of any deep issues to blog about without doing loads of research on the Internet, and ending up ripping people’s opinions off, which I don’t think is a very good thing.
I’m one of those people who blog all the time about the littlest stuff. Some would say that I have no life, but I don’t think so. I merely need a place to jot down all my thoughts and opinions. Sometimes I will do detailed recounts of my daily events too. I don’t see what is so “no life” about blogging at all, because all these entries serves as very useful memories. Over time, I will read through my archives and discover how much I have changed, and everything I’ve been through over the years to make me a stronger person. Blogging is pretty much like an online diary, except that it’s public.
It’s definitely part of my life.
Anyway, I want to share one of the weirdest questions that I ever received.
One day, while my friend and I were walking along, she asked me, “ Did anyone ever tell you that you’re very weird?”
Yes, how totally absurd and random. So that naturally got me thinking about quite a few matters.
For one, I certainly do not think I’m weird. I dress ordinarily, I talk ordinarily, I do ordinary stuff like any other typical teenage girls would do. Shopping, eating, going out with friends… very predictable stuff.
I’m quite boring actually.
Next, it’s concerning the word, “weird”. There are so many negative connotations linked to the word “weird”. Words like “crazy”, “antisocial”, “freak” etc.
Yet, is being weird really that bad?
Sometimes, all people have to do is to go against conventions, and they get labeled “weird”.
I say, embrace your inner freaks! Why be affected by the opinions of others? I strongly believe that anyone can do what he or she wants as long as he or she does not hurt others.
Be original, be who you want to be even if it breaks social norms!
Weird is the new normal!
Digressing to a new topic…
I was not able to sleep last night. So in a bid to get sleepy, I decided to dance to my collection of music. Well, I cannot dance actually, unless you consider trashing about wildly, or headbanging in the dark to be a form of dance. As of now, I don’t think that’s a recognized form of dance, so let’s just safely assume that I can’t dance at all.
My current favourite song to dance to is Marilyn Manson’s Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag. Yes, it’s an amazing song to dance to. Many people shun Marilyn Manson’s music merely because of his physical appearance, but they do not realise how good his works are actually. I believe this song cures insomnia too because every single time I finish dancing to it, I’m exhausted to the bone.
I also feel that the collaboration between Linkin Park and Jay-Z is ingenious, because really good music came out of it! You can in fact dance to the entire Collision Course album like a deranged lunatic. It is THAT good.
Finally, you can listen to HIM to get you more in the mode of sleeping. HIM is a Finnish band that plays epic music, and they are astounding on so many different levels. The insightful, poetic lyrics and musical arrangement blends so perfectly with the deep, intense voice of Ville Valo – the charismatic lead singer.
Each song is a masterpiece, so intricately crafted.
HIM is truly a living work of art that everyone should check out.
So long & goodbye!
(Using Randi’s openers.)
Angry, Mo clenched his fist and took a swing at his son, Jon.
How daring of Jon, oh, how very daring of him to smoke blatantly in the living room! Does Jon hold no respect for this father anymore?
Mo was aware that he never played much of a father role in the sixteen years of Jon’s life. It was not entirely his fault, too, he liked to tell himself. All he did was try to work as hard as he could ever since his wife left him for another man when Mo was barely three. Since then, Mo placed Jon in the care of nannies and maids while he traveled across continents in the name of business. Due to this, he hardly had the chance to interact with Jon.
However, it was not as if he ill-treated Jon! Whenever Jon wanted money for his shopping sprees, or to purchase his electronic games, he gave the money willingly. All he asked for in return was good behaviour and academic results from Jon.
Then one day, he returned home, just to see Jon lounging on the sofa and taking a drag from a cigarette.
Yes, a cigarette.
Jon, his son, smoking?
Mo was furious. He confronted…
Openers:
Good variety.
Reflection:
I think it’s okay to be labelled weird as long as you’re happy being you. These days, everyone tries to look and dress and sound like everyone else that the world has become a tad boring.
Also, it’s great that you enjoy blogging. It’s the start of becoming a writer if you like putting your thoughts down on paper.
